MATERIALS
Primarily constructed from laser-cut 8mm and 10mm steel, with optional extra-heavy duty 10mm thick 304 stainless steel grill grates, the Fractal range shares the same apocalypse-proof construction as our flagship Terraton 200. This extreme build quality equates to stable and consistent cooking temperatures compared to mass-produced pits made of thinner material.
Our pits are weatherproofed with a polymerized linseed oil coating, which will not flake and degrade over time like paint. The rust-proof coating can be maintained indefinitely with a light coat of oil as needed. Bolts, washers, and other hardware components are made from stainless steel to further ensure longevity.
DUAL-FLOW
Traditional-flow or reverse-flow? Enter: Dual-Flow. A common issue with smaller offsets is the reduced usable grill grate area caused by a combination of intense radiant heat from the firebox coupled with a smaller air volume.
With the Fractal’s dual-flow internal airflow routing system, the choice is yours how smoke and hot air interact with your food – whether from above grate level for enhanced bark formation, fat rendering, and even temperatures, or below grate level for a more traditional cooking experience, or mix it up with a balanced blend of both depending on the scenario.
In short, the dual-flow system unlocks the full potential of smaller offset smokers and avoids the drawbacks of other setups.
CERAMIC FIBRE INSULATION
Two inches of ceramic fibre, rated to withstand temperatures of up to 2600°F, are sandwiched between the 8mm steel inner and outer surfaces of the firebox, as well as the firebox door and the entire rear wall of the firebox.
Due to the extensive levels of insulation, less wood is consumed during a cook, newly added splits catch fire quickly, and splits burn with minimum smouldering, producing the cleanest flavour.
Non-insulated fireboxes are prone to developing rust due to the blistering exterior surface temperatures. In contrast, the fireboxes of the Fractal range are warm to the touch during operation, making them a much safer choice in a home setting.
XL FIREBOX & DUAL AIRFLOW INTAKES
Heat distribution and airflow path options and have been optimised throughout using advanced computer simulation and rigorous multivariate analysis.
To assist with the transfer of heat from the insulated firebox to the cooking chamber, upper airflow intakes have been added to allow for increased draw/low airflow restriction without the side effect of excessively increasing overall pit temperatures.
Coupled with the extra large firebox and firebox door for easy access to the live fire, the dual airflow intakes are another game changing feature of the Fractal range.
WHEEL OPTIONS
The Fractal 90 features four ultra-heavy-duty 200mm castors with cast iron cores and a hard-wearing polyurethane tread, rated to withstand a combined load of 1800kg. The two front swivel castors have locking brakes, while the rear two are fixed to the chassis for stability.
The Fractal 200 is supported by four rugged 4-ply 22×11″ wheels rated to 1800kg, with steel centres for worry-free all-terrain operation as standard.
An ATV chassis option is also available for the Fractal 90.
