Stag Mixed Hardwood Charcoal 6kg
The timber used in the mixed hardwood blend changes depending on what species have been felled in the woodlands or is sourced elsewhere. They process timber and store in crates to season, once seasoned it it either sold as firewood or used to make Grown in Britain Assured Charcoal. As a result they are always finding new species in the mix to cook into charcoal.
The mixed hardwood charcoal blend contains various species, including; Ash, Hornbeam, Sycamore, Alder, Beech, Oak & even Hawthorn. It lights with a twist of paper, produces little smoke while producing plenty of heat combined with a good burn time.
Stag Hornbeam Charcoal 6kg
This charcoal is made from timber sourced from Natural England SSSI protected woodlands in Essex and Hertfordshire.
In the 19th Century, with the massive increase in the population of London, charcoal was in demand for domestic heating and cooking and for the steam engines used in every facet of industry and much transportation. Hornbeam charcoal became known as Hertfordshire gold.
Charcoal from Hornbeam is still regarded as the best there is.
